Changelog
What's new in Cashlucent.
Improvements go out continuously, so there is no version to install and nothing to update. We gather them into a batch and announce it here, newest first. 105 updates so far.

Your books read on cash basis by default
Most small businesses file on cash, so that is what your reports show unless you change it in Settings. Accrual is still one click away on any report that offers a basis.
Reports print like a real statement
Your business name sits at the top of a printed report, with the report name, the period and the basis underneath, and the date it was run in the footer. The filter controls no longer print, and the rows are set at paper density, so a Profit & Loss that ran to three sheets now takes two.
Cash basis tells you when it cannot see something
If money moved through Accounts Receivable in the period without an invoice behind it, which is usually opening balances brought in from another system, the report now says how much rather than quietly leaving that income out.
Changing your sign-in email asks for your password
Your email is where password resets go, so changing it now needs your current password, signs you out everywhere, and sends a notice to your old address. Too many wrong authenticator codes also pauses sign-in for fifteen minutes.
Importing a year of journal entries works
A journal CSV of more than a few hundred entries used to fail with no explanation. A 422-entry file now imports in half a second, and a file over the 5,000-entry limit tells you so instead of failing.
Suggested matches say which entry they mean
When Cashlucent thinks a bank line is something you already recorded, the suggestion shows that entry's number and who it was paid to, instead of just "Journal Entry" and a date.

Search for a category instead of scrolling
Every account dropdown in Cashlucent opens a search box over your chart. Type a name or a code and the list narrows, grouped the way your Chart of Accounts reads: Assets, Liabilities, Equity, then each income and expense group with its sub-accounts under it.
Record a transfer without a category
In Account Transactions, choose one of your own bank or card accounts in From/To. Cashlucent records the transfer and clears the matching line on the other account at the same time, so paying a credit card from checking is one click and never posts twice. Undo on either side reverses both.
Balances on your Chart of Accounts
Assets, liabilities and equity show what your books hold next to what the bank last reported, with group rows totalling their sub-accounts. Each row links straight to that account's register.
Journal entries are numbered
Journal entries get their own number per business, JE-0001 and up, shown in the new No. column. Click any description in All Transactions, or a line in the General Ledger, to open the entry itself.
See where a transaction came from
All Transactions has a Type column: Bank feed for anything added from a bank line, or the document type for invoices, bills and journal entries. The CSV export carries it too.
Create a vendor while writing a bank rule
The payee list in a bank rule now offers Add new, so you can name the vendor or customer without leaving the rule.
Match a bank line to something you already recorded
When a bank line is money already in your books, Account Transactions offers Match instead of Add and names the entry it found, so clearing it links the two rather than posting the same money twice. More than one candidate becomes a list you pick from, and Categorize instead goes back to the usual way.
Put your bank accounts in the order you want
Each card on Account Transactions has arrows to move it up or down, and the order is kept for that business.
A $0 line tells you what to do with it
Some banks send $0 authorizations. There is nothing to post for one, so Add is greyed out and explains why, and Ignore sits next to it. Adding a batch skips them and says how many it left.
More room to work
Account Transactions and Chart of Accounts use the whole window instead of stopping short, descriptions fit on one line, and the journal entry window is wide enough for long amounts.

A complete chart of accounts from day one
New businesses start on the Standard chart: 82 accounts grouped the way small businesses use them, with sub-accounts under each group. The shorter starter charts are still there to choose from.
Save your chart as a template
Chart of Accounts, Save as template keeps the accounts you use. Pick it the next time you add a business. Rename or delete templates in Settings, Businesses.
Switch a new business to a different chart
Chart of Accounts, Switch chart moves a business with nothing posted yet to another chart. You see every change first, and accounts already in use stay as they are.
Delete an account you don't use
Chart of Accounts has a delete button on each account. If something still uses the account, it tells you what, and offers to deactivate it instead.
Choose when you're signed out
Settings, Security lets you pick how long Cashlucent waits before signing you out, from 15 minutes to 8 hours.
Add a vendor, customer or category while you review
In Account Transactions, choose Add new in From/To or Category to create one without leaving the page.
Edit the description before you add a transaction
Click a description in Account Transactions to change it. The bank's original wording stays with the bank line.
Map a bank feed to any bank or card account
Settings, Bank Connections now lists every asset and liability account under Posts to, and marks the one you pick as a bank or credit card account.
No duplicates when you reconnect a bank
Removing a bank connection offers to clear the transactions from it that are still waiting for review, so connecting the bank again brings each one in once.
Recurring invoice emails open the invoice
Invoices sent automatically on a schedule now link to the invoice page your customer can open and pay, and come from your business name. Emailed statements no longer include a link your customer couldn't open.

Account Transactions replaces For Review
Every bank account shows its bank balance next to its balance in your books and how many transactions are waiting. Review everything in one compact table, or click an account to see only its transactions. For review, Posted and Excluded tabs let you look back at what you added or ignored and undo it.
Choose who a bank transaction was from or to
Pick the vendor or customer right in the table. Add stays off until a category is chosen, and a suggested category from a rule is one click to accept.
Bank transactions no longer arrive twice
When your bank sent several updates at the same moment, a transaction could show up in review more than once. Each one now arrives once.
Connect the Stripe account you already have
Settings, Invoice Payments now asks you to sign in to your own Stripe account, so you can take card payments with the account you already use instead of opening a second one. You can switch to a different account later.
Send an invoice without leaving Cashlucent
Send invoice opens a message addressed to your customer, with the subject and note filled in and ready to edit. It sends from your business name, replies come back to you, and the invoice records when it went out and to whom. Sending from your own mail app is still there if you prefer it.
The pay link is on the invoice
An unpaid invoice shows its online payment link with a button to copy it, prints the link on the invoice itself, and includes it in the email you send.
Your invoice page looks like your business
The page your customer pays on now carries your logo, your business name and your brand colour, the same as your printed invoice.
Saved invoices are named properly
Saving an invoice or statement as a PDF names the file after the document, the business and the customer instead of the page it came from.
A clear message when Stripe cannot start
If Stripe cannot begin setting up payments, Settings, Invoice Payments explains what happened instead of showing an error page.

Your free trial starts when you sign up
A new account gets 14 days of full access from sign-up, with no card. Add a card partway through and you keep the days you have left.
Keep the signed W-9 with the contractor
Upload a contractor's W-9 from their 1099 details. It is also filed under Tax in Documents.
Get your 1099s ready in one place
1099 Contractors, under Purchases, shows every contractor you track, what you paid them from your bank accounts that year, and whether they need a 1099-NEC. Each one lists what is still missing: a tax ID, a mailing address, or a W-9.
Print the contractor copies
Print a 1099-NEC recipient copy for every contractor who needs one, one per page, and download a filing sheet with each box filled in for your own filing or your accountant.
Connecting a bank during your trial asks for a card
You are not charged until the trial ends.
Set up two-factor on your phone
Tap the setup link to add Cashlucent to your authenticator app on the same device.
Tax IDs are stored encrypted
Contractor and business tax IDs are encrypted, and screens show only the last four digits.
The new $2,000 threshold
Payments made from 2026 on need a 1099-NEC at $2,000, and earlier years keep $600.
Only managers can open a signed W-9
A W-9 linked to a contractor shows their full tax ID, so only owners, admins and accountants can open, share or delete it, or unlink it from the contractor. Other team members see that one is on file.
Recurring invoices send on schedule again
Invoices set to send automatically had stopped going out on their scheduled day since September 5. They send on schedule again.

Two-factor protects connected banks
Connecting a bank now requires two-factor authentication. Once a business has a bank connection, everyone with access to it is asked to turn two-factor on before continuing, and it stays on while they have that access.

Connect your bank
Settings, Bank connections links your bank. New transactions arrive on their own and wait in For Review until you categorize them.
Up to two years of history
A newly connected bank brings in up to 24 months of past transactions.
Choose where each account starts
Set a Sync from date on a connected account and anything dated earlier is skipped.
Review in bulk
Select transactions in For Review, then add them all to one category, accept every suggested category, ignore them, or delete them from review.
Review one account at a time
For Review has a tab for each bank account with its count, and the sidebar shows how many transactions are waiting from any page.
Signed out after 15 minutes away
Cashlucent signs you out after 15 minutes of inactivity. A warning appears two minutes before, with a button to stay signed in.
Easier with a keyboard or screen reader
Sign-up and sign-in fields announce their names, errors are read aloud, every page has a Skip to main content link, and buttons and links have stronger contrast.
Transactions from a new bank connection arrive
They now come in even when you choose the account they post to after connecting.

Delete your account yourself
Settings, Profile now has a Delete your account button. If you are the last person with access to your organization, the organization goes with it: every business, every uploaded file and every bank connection, and your subscription is canceled. If other people still have access, remove them in Team settings first, or make one of them an owner and leave on your own.
A privacy policy that names everyone
The privacy policy now lists every service that handles your data and what each one does, and says exactly how long backups are kept.
Deleting a business removes all of its files
Documents that were not attached to a transaction, such as receipts still in the inbox, are now deleted along with the business, and so are their stored files.

One membership, and your rate is locked for life
Cashlucent is a single Member plan covering every business you run and your own personal budget. What you pay is set by when you join: Founding Members pay $39 a month, then $49, then $59. Whichever rate you join at is the rate you keep for as long as your membership stays active. If you cancel and come back later, you rejoin at whatever rate is open then. Annual billing is two months free, and membership is capped at 500.
Your personal budget comes with it
Zero-based budgeting for your own money is part of the membership rather than something sold separately. Add a personal budget from the business switcher. It is private to you, even from admins on the same account.
See where your money went
Your personal budget has a new Insights page: spending by category, income against expenses month by month, and your net worth over time, across any date range. Refunds net against the category they came back to, and paying a credit card is not counted as spending twice.
Take everything with you, whenever you want
The account owner can export the whole organization from Settings, Organization: every business, transaction, customer, vendor, document and setting, as a zip of files that open without us. No request, no waiting.
2 GB of storage, and a way to add more
Every membership includes 2 GB for receipts and documents. If you need more, add 10 GB blocks at $9 a month. Files you have already uploaded are never removed or hidden if you reach the limit.
Two weeks to try everything
A new membership starts with a 14-day free trial and full access, with no card to start.

Use Claude or ChatGPT to read receipts
Settings, AI and receipts now takes a key from either Anthropic or OpenAI. Pick the one you already pay for. Both read photos and PDFs, and either way the cost is on your own account, not ours.
Charges that wait for the next invoice
Unbilled charges and credits, under Sales, hold work you have done or credit you owe until you are ready to bill it. Nothing is in your books until you put it on a document.
Pull them straight onto an invoice
Start an invoice for that customer and anything unbilled is offered right there. One click adds the lines, and it is marked billed when you save.
Track what your trade actually needs
Custom fields, under Settings, let you add your own boxes to customers, vendors and sales forms. Text, number, date, checkbox or a dropdown you define. Anything that used to go in the notes box now has a place it can be printed and exported from.
Put your own fields on an invoice
Any custom field can be marked to print on invoices and estimates. It is off by default, so an internal note stays internal unless you say otherwise.
Customers and vendors export to CSV
Export the list from either page, with a column for every custom field you have defined.
A home for your accountant
My Accountant, under Accounting, is where you invite your bookkeeper and see everything they are waiting on. They get their own login that can post entries, manage the chart of accounts and close the books, but not change who is on your team.
Stop chasing documents by email
Your accountant can ask for something in the app, with a note and a date they need it by. You attach the file to the request and mark it done. Both of you see the same list, so nothing lives in one person's inbox.
A shelf for the files that matter
Shared documents is the handful of files you and your accountant agreed are worth their attention, separate from every other document in the business. Anything you attach to a request lands there automatically.
A receipts inbox
Receipts, under Purchases, is where a receipt waits until it is part of your books. Add photos or PDFs, check the vendor, date and total, then file it as an expense or match it to a transaction already in the books. The image stays attached to the entry it justifies.
Email a receipt straight into your books
Every business gets its own private forwarding address. Send or forward a receipt to it from your phone and it turns up in the inbox, with the sender and subject kept alongside it.
Receipts read themselves
Add your own Anthropic API key under Settings, AI and receipts, and the vendor, date and total are filled in for you, with a note when the picture was too unclear to be sure. Everything stays editable, and receipts work by hand if you would rather not use a key.
Your key, your account
Reading receipts runs on your own Anthropic account rather than ours, so the cost is yours and your files are never processed on someone else's key. The key is checked before it is saved, stored encrypted, and never shown again.
A home for your files
Documents, under Accounting, lists every receipt, contract and statement in the business, whether it arrived attached to a transaction or on its own. Filter by category, or by anything not yet filed.
Statements that read like statements
Sub-accounts sit indented under their parent with a total for each group, so a sub-account appears underneath its heading instead of alongside it. Covers the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance and Budget vs Actual.
Reports stop listing your whole chart at zero
Accounts with nothing in the period are hidden. Tick Show accounts with no activity when you want the full chart back; the totals are the same either way.
Budget vs Actual adds up across sub-accounts
Budget a category and spend against the accounts underneath it, and you get the total for the group instead of two rows that each look completely off.
Sign-in says what actually went wrong
A right password with a missing authenticator code now asks for the code instead of blaming the password, and an account locked by failed attempts says so and how long is left.

Sub-accounts in your chart of accounts
Give an account a parent and it sits indented underneath it, so a long chart reads as groups instead of one flat list. Exports and imports carry the structure.
Parent accounts marked as groups
An account that has sub-accounts now shows as a shaded row marked Group, so you can tell at a glance which rows are headings and which ones you post to.
Payment links have a home
Sales → Payment Links lists every link you've made and creates one for any open invoice. The Create menu has a Payment Link entry too.
Statements and inventory adjustments from the Create menu
Statement asks who it's for and opens the statement. Inventory Adjustment asks which item and opens the adjust form.
Bank rules and statement import in the sidebar
Both sit under Accounting now, and the sidebar lights only the page you're on.
A personal budget with every business plan
Add one from the business switcher. It is private to you, even from admins on the same account, and does not count toward your business limit.
An Integrations page
Bank connections, invoice payments, API tokens and the API reference, each with its state and a link to where the work happens.
Check, credit card credit, pay down credit card
Three more money-out documents from the Create menu. A card refund no longer needs a journal entry.
A Taxes page
Each agency with what you owe, what this filing period has collected and paid, and when it ends. Set the filing frequency and record a payment from the row.
Cash Flow Planner
The next 30 to 90 days of cash from open invoices, open bills and recurring transactions, with the lowest point marked and what-if lines to test a decision first.
A page that teaches zero-based budgeting
The new /budgeting page walks through the method with real screenshots of the budget, the move-money dialog and the register, on desktop and on a phone.
Cash or accrual, per report
Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Sales by Customer, Sales by Item, Expenses by Vendor and Budget vs Actual can run on either basis. The control starts on your accounting method and a saved view remembers it.
Prices that include tax
Sell at a tax-in price and Cashlucent backs the tax out for you, per line, to the cent.
API access
Personal tokens so your own scripts can read and write your books, plus a full reference in the help guide listing every endpoint you can call.
Your logo in the sidebar
Upload a mark for each business and for your organization; the browser tab follows the business you're in.
Scan to set up two-factor
A QR code for authenticator apps, alongside the manual key.
Search the help guide
Type a few words and the contents narrow to the sections that match, with the matches highlighted.
Request a feature from inside the app
This page, and the form that feeds it.
